Matic started in a three-man midfielder accompanied by Andreas Pereira and Paul Pogba. The Serbian played the same role for Chelsea in last season's title-winning campaign.
When asked if he thought the system could at United, Matic replied: "Why not?
"I think that formation is good, but we will see during the season you can always change.
"Chelsea didn't always play the same system, they changed after ten games [after losing at Arsenal]. The season is so long."
